SUNNYBANK is the team to beat this year, according to Culter manager Bobby Gray.

The Culter boss watched his side continue their campaign to regain their Superleague title with a 2-1 win over Maud at the weekend.

Bobby believes that if the Crombie Park club are to get their hands back on the Superleague trophy they will have to overcome the challenge of his former club.

Bobby said: "I was speaking to the Maud manager after the game on Saturday and he said he expects it to be the tightest league in years and I agree with him. There are a lot of good teams this year capable of finishing high up the league table.

"I think if you finish above Sunnybank this year you will win the league. They have got a good squad together and they will be up there challenging come the end of the season."

First half goals from Dod McBain and Allan Youngson were enough to give Culter all three points against a stubborn Maud side.

Bobby said: "We went up two nil and then we lost a sloppy goal right on the stroke of half-time. In the second half I don't think either of the keepers were put under any sort of real pressure. Maud played well so it was a good win for us. I was pleased with how we played and I thought we passed the ball around well in parts."

Culter face Buckie Rovers in the preliminary round of the North Regional Cup this Saturday and Bobby is unsure what sort of match awaits his players against the First Division outfit.

He said: "Buckie Rovers are a bit of an unknown quantity. I have never been there in my life."

Ryan Pressley, Gordon Farmer and Martin Cooper should be back available for the Deesiders for Saturday's match.
