CULTER deserved to lose to Turriff in the first round of the GA Engineering Inter Regional Cup, according to manager Bobby Gray.
The Culter boss was frustrated to see his side lose 3-2 at Crombie Park on Saturday. The home side twice got back on level terms with Turriff but could find no reply to Keith Reid's controversial winner after 67 minutes.

Bobby said: "Their third g
oal looked miles offside to me but I think Turriff deserved to win the game. They wanted it more than we did on the day.

"It was a very disappointing game to lose as it is the one cup we have never won. But we are still in four other cups so there is plenty left to play for this season."

The Culter gaffer added: "I made a few changes for the game and looking back I maybe shouldn't have done that. I wanted to give the guys that had been doing well in training a game. However hindsight is a wonderful thing."

This Saturday Culter will head to Maud, who thrashed New Elgin 6-1 in their GA Engineering Cup first round tie at the weekend. Maud will be a stern test for Culter as they have already taken three points from the Crombie Park club's Deeside rivals Banchory St Ternan earlier in the season.

Bobby admits it will be a testing day for his players if they want to get back to winning ways.

He said: "Maud will be another tough game for us as they are a decent side. We will have to play a lot better than we did on Saturday if we are going to win. We know what sort of match to expect against Maud. There are no easy games but we will be wanting to win this one after Saturday's disappointment."
