CULTER'S Hugh Robertson faces a race against time to be fit for the Crombie Park club's crunch Scottish Junior Cup match against Scone this weekend.
The former Aberdeen, Dundee and Ross County midfielder missed Saturday's win over Buckie Thistle after picking up a knee injury against Maud on September 20.
Culter boss Bobby Gray is hoping that the 33-year-old will be back available for Saturday's trip to face Scone, who play in the East Region Central Division.
Bobby said: "Hopefully we will have Hugh back in the squad for the match as he is an important player for us. Martin Shand and Gordon Farmer are both unavailable so it would be good to have Hugh fit."
The Culter boss admits he knows precious little about Scone but is confident his side will have enough to progress into the next round of the competition.
"I have never seen Scone play before and I don't know too much about them," he said. "However I'm sure as long as we prepare ourselves properly for the match and play our own game then we will be OK. I'm expecting a tough match as you don't get any bad teams from that neck of the woods. We'll go down there and give it our best shot."
Culter warmed up for Saturday's match with a 6-1 thrashing of Buckie Thistle in the Regional Cup. However the Deesiders had to come from behind to win the match after conceding a goal within three minutes of the start.
Bobby added: "The boys did well to come back after conceding the early goal. It was a good result in the end.
"We had to make a few changes but the team played well and we are pleased to get through to the next round of the cup."
